The week after Christmas is a perfect time for a getaway, and few wine country visits start the way ours does. At Sterling, you arrive by aerial gondola, rising up to a hilltop winery 300 feet above the town of Calistoga.
Your Visit Starts With the Gondola
The gondola is part of every Sterling experience. After you check in, you ride up to the winery, taking in views of the valley and the vineyards below. Sterling's whitewashed architecture was modeled after the Greek island of Mykonos, where founder Peter Newton once lived, and it makes a stunning backdrop at the top. The gondola is not sold on its own. You ride when you book an experience, or when you join a guest who has.

Why Visit in Winter
Cooler months are a lovely time to linger over a tasting. The air is crisp, the views stretch across the valley, and a glass of Cabernet tastes even better when you are wrapped up on a terrace. If you are in the area for the holidays, a visit makes a memorable outing for family and friends.
Choose Your Experience
Sterling offers a range of experiences, from relaxed all-ages options to more indulgent seated tastings. Every experience includes a round-trip gondola ride. See current experiences, ages, and pricing on our Visit page.
Make It a Calistoga Day
Calistoga is a historic spa town at the northern end of Napa Valley. Pair a morning soak at a local spa with an afternoon tasting at Sterling for a relaxing winter day.
