Tasting Notes
A beautiful crushed velvet red color in the glass, the 2018 Winemaker’s Select Red Blend promises an unforgettable drinking experience the instant the wine flows from the bottle. Bright aromas of fresh blackberry and raspberry are immediately apparent, with violet floral notes singing softly above the dark fruit flavors. On the palate, opulent flavors of ripe currant, red cherry and vanilla add to the rich structure of this powerful blend, while the tannins are tamed with plush mid-palate notes of spiced tea and dark chocolate. A long, balanced finish keeps you coming back for more. Enjoy now, or age up to 5 years.

Winemaking
The grapes were hand harvested in the cool of early morning during the month of October and transported to the winery, followed by a pre-fermentation cold soak for gentle extraction of the delicate varietal nuances. Fermentation took place in a combination of stainless-steel and oak vessels. We chose to age the wine in a combination of French, American, and Hungarian oak barrels (62% new) for 19 months to soften the tannins and showcase the pure fruit character.
Vineyard
The Cabernet Sauvignon for this wine comes from several vineyards in the Napa Valley including Clairmore Vineyard near Lake Hennessey, the Meigs Vineyard situated in rugged Wooden Valley, and Sleeping Lady Vineyard on the west side of Yountville. Malbec and Petit Verdot, coming from Bale Lane Vineyard in St. Helena and the Gamble Ranch Vineyard, make up the remainder of this red blend . These vineyards showcase the unique terroir of the Napa Valley and bring distinctive, flavorful, high-quality fruit to this beautiful red blend.
