Yates Family Vineyard, family owned and meticulously farmed for generations produces wines with great character and expression of the Mount Veeder appellation. The vines are planted on steep hillside volcanic soils at an elevation over 1100 feet in the Mayacamas Mountains.
This location produces grapes with intense fruit flavors, depth and complexity. Our Yates Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon featured aromas and flavors of dark blackberry and plum, confectionary caramel vanilla barrel notes and finished with plush, balanced tannins.
The 2013 Yates Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon exemplifies the elegance and age-worthiness that makes Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon so prized. On the nose, an explosion of black cherry and dark bramble fruits burst forth enlivened by distinct graphite minerality and clove spice notes. These rich, exuberant notes continue on to the palate framed by firm baker’s chocolate-inflected tannins leading to a long finish.
If consuming in the near future, decant for two-plus hours and serve with an appropriately hearty dish. Given the wine’s dense structure and impeccable balance, there is little doubt that this wine will develop beautifully in the cellar. For those willing to wait, it will benefit from three to five years of cellaring and for those who enjoy aged Cabernet Sauvignon, it will easily develop for an additional 10-plus years.
