Tasting notes
The Sleeping Lady Cabernet Sauvignon is opulent, rich, and brooding in style. With a deep, intense garnet color in the glass, this wine features layered aromatics of fresh cassis, blackberry, and baking spice. On the palate, rich dark notes of blackberry and currant combine with herbaceous notes of sage and thyme. Warmer nuances of vanilla bean, caramel, and espresso combine to create a firm sumptuous mouthfeel and a long lingering finish. This wine is still in its youth, decant if you plan to enjoy immediately or store it in the cellar for another 10-15 years.

Winemaking
The grapes were hand-harvested at optimum ripeness on October 22 in the early morning hours. Upon arrival at the winery, they were optically - sorted, selecting only the highest quality fruit for fermentation in stainless vessels. Fruit was allowed to ferment for up to 20 days with regular pump-overs to extract deep color and rich flavors. The wine was then gently pressed, racked, and aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak. Individual barrels were tasted and only those that best expressed the unique sense of place were selected for the final blend.

After a damp late winter and spring, the 2019 California vintage started one to two weeks later than normal, followed by cool temperatures that allowed the grapes to mature gradually. Owing to the extended, cool growing season, wine grapes ripened slowly with full flavors and superb balance.
