Tasting Notes

Wonderfully expressive, with aromas of ripe raspberry and strawberry layered with floral notes of rose petal and violets.  Flavors follow the same pathway, with hints of pomegranate and red fruits throughout the glass.  Pairs wonderfully well year round with a wide array of foods.

Vineyard Notes

Syrah from the Winery Lake vineyard near the di Rosa Art Preserve provides fruit for this Rosé. The vineyard, nearby San Pablo Bay, has shallow, low-nutrient Haire and Diablo soils of heavy clay and volcanic rock from the Mayacamas range. A touch of minerality is present. Fruit was picked during cool early morning hours and sent direct to press at a harvest brix of 22.5°, with an eye toward managing tannins and the beautiful pink hues of color.

Vintage Notes

Early season rains brought yields back to normal levels this year, mitigating the extended drought that afflicted most of California. A cool spring resulted in normal timing for bud break, in late March. Temperatures remained fairly cool in May and June, but high temperatures in July triggered an early start to harvest. Quality was solid for the vintage overall.
