September is California Wine Month
Celebrate with Sterling

September is California Wine Month, a time to celebrate the harvest season and raise a glass to our state’s vibrant wine community. More than 80% of America’s wine is crafted here in California, a reflection of the richness of our vineyards and the dedication of the people behind them. From the fields that grow over half the nation’s produce to the wineries that define Napa Valley and beyond, California’s wine industry is woven into the culture and economy of our state. Cheers to that!

Our Story
Sterling Vineyards was founded in 1964 by Oxford graduate and successful businessman Peter Newton. As one of only 27 bonded wineries in Napa Valley at the time, Newton was an early pioneer of crafting Bordeaux-inspired red wines in California and helped transform the region into the premier winemaking appellation we know today. In 1969 Sterling Vineyards bottled the first vintage-dated Merlot in California.
