The 2022 Malvasia Bianca presents a lovely, light-yellow hue, setting the stage for the delightful experience that awaits. The nose is immediately greeted by elegant aromas of tropical fruit and white flowers, creating an alluring and refreshing bouquet that defines this winery-exclusive wine. Ripe mango, pear, and pineapple take center stage, each contributing its unique essence to the overall profile. The addition of a subtle green apple tang adds a refreshing twist, creating a dynamic and well-balanced flavor profile. The wine's texture is both round and luscious, leaving a lasting impression of the wine's vibrancy and complexity.

Winemaking

Grapes are sent directly to press, and the resulting juice is cooled and allowed to settle before racking to stainless fermentation tanks. A long, slow fermentation preserves the delicate nature of the fruit, and fermentation is arrested to provide a refreshing off-dry wine with lower alcohol and a fuller mouthfeel.

Vintage

The first half of the 2022 harvest started calm and early, with healthy vineyards offering fruit with bright acidity, fruit-forward flavors, and strong yields for white varietals.  Then, California experienced a historic heat wave in early September that ramped up the pace of ripening, compelling a fast and furious harvest as winemakers worked to pick fruit at its peak quality. Fortunately, strong vines and proactive irrigation helped many of our vineyards survive the heat. The second half of the growing season was much more predictable with cooler temperatures through October so that later-ripening varieties could develop their full flavor and tannin profile.

Vineyard

Our Malvasia Bianca is grown in a warmer region in Monterey County. With consistent daytime heat, the varietal’s tree fruit character develops fully, while cooling breezes help maintain a solid acid backbone, emphasizing the intriguing spicy-floral elements.
