As director of winemaking at Sterling Vineyards, Harry Hansen guides the production of the flagship Sterling Vineyards Iridium wine. The first vintage 2014 Iridium Cabernet Sauvignon release proudly won 96 points by Lisa Perotti-Brown at Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

“One of my earliest memories of wine was the gallon jug of red wine that we always had at home. I would go with my father to a local winery, maybe in Kenwood or Healdsburg, to refill that jug and chit-chat with the winery proprietors. The aromas of those wines were always something attractive, somehow mysterious, but always memorable.”
Education & Background
Harry was raised in Sonoma County. After he graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a master’s degree in enology, he became a winemaker at Gloria Ferrer in Sonoma and Edna Valley Vineyard in San Luis Obispo.
In 2011, just before harvest, Harry joined Sterling Vineyards. “It’s a great privilege to make wine here,” he says. “At Sterling we enjoy unsurpassed vineyard resources, from Diamond Mountain to Rutherford, and our recently renovated, state-of-the-art cellar is the perfect place to blend grapes from these stellar terroirs into wines of intense varietal expression.”
Lauren has worked in the wine industry since graduating from UC Davis with a BS in Microbiology in 2009. Lauren began her career in winemaking labs, first as an intern at Franciscan Winery and then as a technician at Matchbook Wine Company, before returning to UC Davis to earn her Masters of Science in Viticulture and Enology. After graduating in 2013, Lauren experienced three harvests working at the small, ultra-premium Odette Estate Winery, followed by a role as vintage cellar hand at New Zealand’s Church Road Winery, before joining the Sterling Vineyards team in 2014.
