The palate is fresh with fruit-forward flavors, floral notes and a soft, creamy texture. This a sophisticated and elegant wine with balanced fruit, structure and acidity.

The current release highlights another great vintage throughout California, on par with the previous wonderful 2018 vintage. Warm spring temperatures and even weather throughout the growing season led to an earlier than normal harvest for most of the Napa Valley and other regions throughout the state. California’s continued drought led to lower yields in the vineyards but produced fruit of exceptional quality and fruit flavors.
The Sterling Vineyards Blanc de Blancs is 100 percent Chardonnay. The fruit comes from Yountville Ranch (Napa Valley) and Paris Valley Ranch (Monterey County) that produce beautifully vibrant Chardonnays with excellent freshness.
Winemaker Harry Hansen takes great care in crafting a beautiful expression of Chardonnay for the base wine of this Blanc de Blancs. The Chardonnay fruit was harvested in the cool morning hours and sent directly to press at the winery. Only stainless steel is used during fermentation to preserve freshness. First and second pressings are blended to add depth, layers of flavor and complexity. The sparkling is made using the Charmat Method, or Cuvee Close, giving the final wine a delicate but persistent effervescence.
Director of Winemaking Harry Hansen was raised in nearby Sonoma County. “One of my earliest memories of wine was the gallon jug of red wine that we always had at home. I would go with my father to a local winery, maybe in Kenwood or Healdsburg, to refill that jug and chit-chat with the winery proprietors. The aromas of those wines were always something attractive, somehow mysterious, but always memorable.”
Harry joined Sterling Vineyards and relocated to Napa Valley just before the 2011 Harvest. “The opportunity to join such a respected Napa Valley winery is exciting and a fantastic next step in my winemaking career. Sterling Vineyards is making some wonderful wines, and I look forward to taking that next step up in quality and reputation.”
