Our Malvasia Bianca has become a winery favorite, perfect for surveying beautiful views off the Terrace. We focus on crafting a wine with bright, fresh aromas and easy-going, inviting drinkability. Highly aromatic, our Malvasia Bianca welcomes the senses with a mélange of exotic spices, candied ginger and orange blossom, which playfully dance through ripe nectarines and apricots. The intricate balance of acidity and sweetness creates the ideal partner for spicy foods, as well as a refreshing apéritif. This wine is part of our Winery Exclusive offerings.
A lovely light-yellow hue hints at the elegant aromas of tropical fruit and white flowers that are present on the nose of this winery exclusive wine. On the palate, lightly sweet flavors of ripe mango, pear and pineapple are rounded out by a bit of green apple tang. Round and luscious, this wine has a succulent and long finish. Enjoy with our favorite spice Asian dishes. Serve well-chilled.
The beginning of the 2021 growing season came early, with extended periods of sunny weather and produced exceptionally high-quality fruit, some of the best in recent years. Rain early in the year led to almost no notable precipitation for the rest of the season, providing an ideal environment for the grapes with budbreak early in April, followed by flowering and bloom in May. The summer however returned to more seasonal, expected temperatures, and even ripening led to one of the earliest harvest beginnings. Low yields (in part due to drought conditions), created fruit that is intensely flavored and smaller in berry size. Once harvest began, we saw clear skies through all of September and well into October before we received some early rain. With optimal ripening and taste, our winemakers took their time bringing grapes in, crafting wines of fantastic character, with amazing color extraction, aromatic intensity, tremendous balance, and structure, that are equally lush and fruity.
Malvasia Bianca is grown in a warmer region in northern San Joaquin Valley. With consistent daytime heat, the varietal’s tree fruit character develops fully, while cooling breezes help maintain a solid acid backbone, emphasizing the intriguing spicy-floral elements.
Grapes are sent directly to press, and the resulting juice is cooled and allowed to settle before racking to stainless fermentation tanks. A long, slow fermentation preserves the delicate nature of the fruit, and fermentation is arrested to provide a refreshing off-dry wine with lower alcohol and a fuller mouthfeel.
