This 2022 Celebration Cuvée rosé is a delightful and enchanting experience. Our Celebration Cuvee rings in the re-opening of our beloved Sterling Vineyards property in our distinct Sterling style. Its freshly picked strawberry, juicy white peach, and strawberry lemonade characteristics create a vibrant and tantalizing palate. The hints of strawberry lemon cheesecake add a unique and decadent twist, while the floral elements of orange blossom provide an extra layer of sophistication. With its fresh acidity, this rosé is an ideal companion for warm weather gatherings, picnics, or simply for savoring the celebrations of life.

Winemaking

This distinctive wine was crafted with Pinot Noir grapes that are grown specifically to showcase the attributes we desire in rosé. Picked at night to preserve freshness, the grapes are brought to the winery and gently pressed as whole berries while the fruit is still cool, with a brief skin contact to extract color. The juice was transferred to stainless tanks and fermented under cool temperatures, then aged for 6 months.

Vintage

The first half of the 2022 harvest started calm and early, with healthy vineyards offering fruit with bright acidity, fruit-forward flavors, and strong yields for white varietals. Then, California experienced a historic heat wave in early September that ramped up the pace of ripening, compelling a fast and furious harvest as winemakers worked to pick fruit at its peak quality. Fortunately, strong vines and proactive irrigation helped many of our vineyards survive the heat. The second half of the growing season was much more predictable with cooler temperatures through October so that later-ripening red varieties could develop their full flavor and tannin profile.

Vineyard

The Sterling Vineyards Celebration Cuvée fruit comes from Ranch No. 8, located in the Los Carneros American Viticultural Area (AVA), at the southern tip of Napa Valley. The region’s shallow clay loam soils and marine-influenced climate foster ripe aromatics of stone fruit and floral notes.
