The Sparkling Rosé wine is an elegant pale salmon pink color in the glass with a delightfully persistent bead. The fresh aromas of strawberry, cherry blossom, rose petal and crisp apple lead to a lush palate where the aromas ring true.
The current release of Sterling Vineyards Sparkling Rosé is comprised of 65 percent
Chardonnay and 35 percent Pinot Noir. The Chardonnay comes from Yountville
(Napa Valley) and Paris Valley Ranch (Monterey County), both estate vineyards that
produce beautifully vibrant Chardonnay with excellent freshness. The Salinas Valley
in Monterey County is a cool area influenced by the Pacific Ocean with its consistent
cooling breezes and morning fog. Pinot Noir thrives in this area and the fruit offers
bright, juicy fruit flavors with bright acidity.
The current release highlights another great vintage throughout California. Warm spring temperatures and even
weather throughout the growing season led to an earlier than normal harvest
for most of the Napa Valley and other regions throughout the state. California’s
continued drought led to lower yields in the vineyards but produced fruit of
exceptional quality and fruit flavors.
Winemaker Harry Hansen takes great care in crafting a deliciously balanced base
wine with notes of delicate strawberry and cherry, very creamy and fresh. Both the
Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir are fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness.
The rose color is obtained through cold soaking the Pinot in press for several hours
prior to pressing off the juice. First and second pressings are blended to add depth,
layers of flavor and complexity. The sparkling is made using the Charmat Method, or
Cuveé Close, giving the wine a delicate but persistent effervescence.
