The Sterling Vintner’s Collection Pinot Noir offers notes of black cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, vanilla and tobacco spice on the nose. The concentrated palate is rich with good depth and complex flavors of dark berries, black tea, cocoa dust and warm vanilla. The tannins are silky and well-integrated and lead to a flavorful finish. The diverse nature of Pinot Noir makes it a perfect accompaniment to many foods including grilled meats, cheeses and even salmon.
Outstanding vineyard sources are the foundation for this wine. Carefully selected fruit from premier vineyards throughout California allow the winemaker to craft the
best expression of fine Pinot Noir. The Edna Valley and Monterey County area of California, where the majority of this Pinot Noir is sourced, offer incredible growing conditions including long, warm, sunny days tempered by cool ocean breezes.
The Pinot Noir grapes were picked at optimum ripeness when color, flavor and tannin were in sync. Once in the winery, the grapes were cold soaked for two days followed by gentle fermentation in stainless-steel tanks to preserve the delicate nature of the varietal. To give the wine added texture and complexity the Pinot Noir was aged for 7 months in a combination of French and American oak.
